Welcome to an Aquarius New Moon week, Scorpio! This Saturday the 21st, the first New Moon of 2023 takes place, activating Scorpio’s sector of roots, family, values, and the past. But before we get to that, the Moon is in Scorpio as the week begins, making Monday’s energy quite emotionally potent. It’s best to stay in your own world when the Sun is in Capricorn and the Moon is in Scorpio — have your journal and headphones nearby and tune out distractions. You’re likely to feel more in tune with yourself and your desires, but you may also feel more moody or sensitive during this time. Then on Tuesday the vibes lighten up as the Moon enters Sagittarius, encouraging Scorpios to cultivate an abundant way of thinking about their finances and their self-esteem. Hype yourself up for the progress you’ve made on your financial journey, even if there’s work to be done. This is a great week for choosing to reprogram yourself to believe abundance is your birthright.

Mid-week, on Wednesday the 18th, Mercury ends its retrograde in the sign of Capricorn. We’ll still feel its post-shadow period until early February, but when you combine Mercury’s shift direct with Mars also having recently ended its retrograde, in the sign of Gemini, we’ll feel like miscommunications or delays are behind us, and we now have the green light to move forward with key ventures. There’s no need to rush into them though, especially during these final days of Capricorn Season. The key is being consistent with what (or who) you’re ready to commit to. Use the days after Mercury shifts direct to create a game plan for the rest of January. There’s no need to project yourself too far into the future right now. Take things month by month, week by week, day by day, hour by hour if you need to. Find a pace that works for you, but that also provides you with a healthy amount of challenge.

Speaking of challenge, you may presently be feeling a bit challenged by Venus’ current transit in Aquarius, especially in the days before the New Moon, because it’s making you feel more indifferent in your intimate relationships, and you’re not used to that. It’s not that you don’t care about people anymore, but you are also more drawn to intellectual pursuits, which means you may not show as much affection or sentimentality to those you love, and they may initially take it the wrong way. Many Scorpios will be in hermit mode as the weekend begins and the Moon shifts into Capricorn, and Venus’ presence in Aquarius may amplify our need for space and solitude. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to do your own thing — just try to let your romantic partners or love interests in the loop so they’re not wondering if they did something wrong. And if they did do something that disappoints you, it’s best to wait ’til the Aquarius New Moon strikes to clear the air. The days before Saturday the 21st may feel more tense due to us being in the dark-of-the-moon period, but once the New Moon strikes on Saturday at 3:53pm, you’ll feel more innovative and direct in your communication, and you’ll be more clear on where you stand and where you want others to stand in relation to you.
