Scorpio, as we enter October, you’re probably feeling more self-protective than usual. You may want more time to yourself, feel more selective about who gets access to you, or notice that you’re thinking much more deeply about your relationships, choices, desires, and the person you’ve become. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, Venus begins its retrograde in Scorpio on October 3rd, and we’ve already been feeling its pre-shadow since September. Second, we’re still in Libra Season for the first three weeks of October, and Libra Season is our annual hibernation season.
This is the period before our season begins when we naturally retreat into ourselves and prepare for another personal year. Think of it as an energetic cleanse. Mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, we start looking around at our lives and asking ourselves what we still want to carry with us. What relationships belong in this next chapter? What friendships still feel reciprocal? What mindset have we outgrown? Which physical objects are taking up space? What responsibilities have we automatically continued carrying? Does our job still make sense? Do certain family dynamics deserve the same amount of access to our energy? What are we ready to release, and what simply needs less of our attention?
And because Venus is retrograde in our sign for much of this process, these questions can feel particularly personal. Venus retrograde in Scorpio can have us looking in the mirror—literally and figuratively—and realizing that our relationship with ourselves has changed. We could reconsider our appearance, our style, our confidence, our relationship patterns, what we’re attracted to, what we’re willing to accept, how we spend our money, and what makes us feel valuable. Some Scorpios may reconnect with parts of themselves they haven’t expressed in years. An old hairstyle comes back. You pull clothes out of your closet that remind you of a previous version of yourself. You start listening to music you loved when you were younger. An old creative interest suddenly feels exciting again. You remember what you were like before a particular relationship, career, responsibility, or difficult chapter changed you.
And yes, because this is Venus retrograde, people can come back too. Exes, old crushes, former friends, unfinished emotional situations, or people we thought we’d completely moved on from can reappear physically or simply return to our minds. We don’t have to interpret every resurfacing person as someone we’re meant to reunite with. Sometimes the value of revisiting the past is getting to see it through the eyes of the person we’ve become. That’s really what October is asking us to do: look backward with new eyes…
